Hawaiʻi Ecovillage Tour Scholarship

Ecovillage Tours is excited to welcome applicants to join the upcoming Hawaiʻi Island Ecovillage Tour!

We’ve received a grant to provide partial discounts to at least 3 participants to ensure equitable access for those living in Hawaii or of Hawaiian descent.

See all scholarship details and how to apply below:

  • Program: Hawaiʻi Island Ecovillage Tour — January 4–11, 2026 (tour details)

  • Award: Three (3) scholarships of $1,800 each (≈ half off full tour tuition)

  • Funding partners: The County of Hawaiʻi Island’s IMPACT Grant provided funds for this scholarship program (in partnership with our nonprofit partner Aranya Solutions) with additional support from Ecovillage Tours.

Purpose

These scholarships make it easier for local Hawaii-based changemakers to join the tour and bring back ideas, relationships, and inspiration to strengthen regenerative efforts across the islands. Scholarships are not only about access, but also about cultivating long-term, place-based impact.

We aim to:

  • Increase access for those who may not otherwise be able to attend.

  • Support local leaders and projects with lasting, place-based impact.

  • More broadly support local economies, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability.

Who Should Apply

Scholarships will be prioritized for residents of Hawai‘i Island, with a particular emphasis on underserved communities — especially Native Hawaiians — who may not otherwise have access to programs like this. We aim to make the tour accessible to those who have historically been excluded from or underrepresented in sustainability and cultural tourism initiatives.

In addition, we will prioritize emerging leaders, youth, and individuals already engaged in or preparing to launch community-based or regenerative projects. These may include founders of intentional communities, land stewards, educators, or advocates working toward local food systems, cultural revitalization, and climate resilience.

One scholarship will be reserved for a participant with experience in media, storytelling, or visual documentation, who will help us capture and share the tour’s journey through video, photography, or writing. This role helps broaden access to the experience and strengthens the educational and cultural impact beyond the tour itself.

    • Live on Hawaiʻi Island (or elsewhere in Hawaii) or are of Hawaiian ancestry living elsewhere.

    • Are active in—or want to grow into—roles in sustainability, community-building, or regenerative practices.

    • Plan to apply what you learn toward a local initiative, project, or your professional path.

    • Native Hawaiians and local residents from underserved communities in Hawaii.

    • People from groups historically excluded from sustainability and cultural tourism opportunities.

    • Emerging leaders, educators, cultural practitioners, food system advocates, and environmental stewards.

    • Reside on Hawai‘i Island or other islands in the state, or are of Hawaiian ancestry living in other parts of the world

    • Demonstrate interest or experience in sustainable living, community-building, or regenerative practices

    • Intend to apply the knowledge gained toward a local initiative, project, or professional path

    • Show commitment to sharing what they learn with their communities
